I would like to get my 3 year old daughter Zoe enrolled in the head start program. I am willing to volunteer and have active involvement in Zoe’s head start program experience. I can and have passed a criminal back ground check

You can go online (www.thrivalaska.com) and fill out an application or you can stop by the program to pick up an application from the box at the front door (1949 Gillam way Fairbanks). Typically we would welcome all volunteers, however, during the pandemic we are not allowing any unnecessary people into the building so that we can try to keep staff and children safe and healthy.

Head Start has 3 different programs and times of service
      1) part day/part year is a 4 hour day Mon-Thur. either 7:45-11:45 or 12:15-4:15
      2) duration class that is 6.5 hours per day Mon-Thur. 7:45-2:15
      3) full day full year class is 10 hours per day Mon-Thur. 7:15-5:15 families also have to qualify for child care assistance, be receiving public assistance, working/school full time

However, during this pandemic time ours for the part day part year and duration classrooms will only be 3.5 hours Mon-Thur. times have not been decided yet. We will start back to school with only the returning children and as time goes on we might begin to enroll new children (don’t know when that will be).
